FAW Statement - Covid 19

The Football Association of Wales Board of Directors (the FAW Board) have today (19 May) ratified the recommendation of the National League Board and agreed to curtail the 2019/20 season for Tiers 1 to 4. The decision has been taken as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with Welsh Government’s lockdown guidelines and measures.

The FAW Board took into consideration the health and safety of all those involved with these leagues. Furthermore, the FAW Board also considered the specific economic and financial impact of attempting to finish the season during the pandemic and therefore felt it was imperative not to risk the long-term financial stability of the leagues and their clubs.

It was also recognised that the JD Cymru Premier could not be concluded prior to the deadline set by UEFA for European competition entry.

Clubs in the JD Cymru Premier, JD Cymru North, JD Cymru South and the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League were consulted on how the season should be concluded. The views and information provided by the clubs were communicated to the FAW National League Board and the FAW Board of Directors.

The FAW Board agreed that Tier 1 to 4 leagues would be curtailed and that an unweighted points per game method be applied to determine the final standings. As a consequence, the European Play-Offs in the JD Cymru Premier will not take place.

As a result, the JD Cymru Premier and Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League European competition nominations were determined as follows:
UEFA Champions League – Connah’s Quay Nomads (1st Place)
UEFA Europa League – The New Saints (2nd Place)
UEFA Europa League – Bala Town (3rd Place)
UEFA Women’s Champions League – Swansea City Ladies (1st Place)

UEFA will be formally notified of these nominations prior to the 25 May deadline.

Finally, the FAW Board decided that the prize money for the JD Cymru Premier, JD Cymru North, JD Cymru South and the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League would be distributed in accordance to the final league positions after the points per game method was applied.

The FAW Board are yet to decide on promotion and relegation between leagues with a decision to be made in due course, taking into account full consideration of the FAW’s Pyramid Regulations.

FAW National Cup Board Recommendation – JD Welsh Cup
Due to the specific economic and financial justifications which would make continuing the JD Welsh Cup to its conclusion by the UEFA deadline for European competition nominations on 20 July unfeasible, the FAW National Cup Board recommended to the FAW Board that the competition be postponed. The recommendation was ratified by the FAW Board.
The Cup Board felt it would be financially imprudent to conclude prior to the UEFA deadline, as doing so could place the long-term financial stability of the competition and the clubs at risk
The Cup Board hope that the remainder of the competition can resume prior to the start of the next football season, whenever that may be and when it is safe and economically viable to do so, however, this is not possible before the UEFA deadline.
In accordance with the UEFA guidelines, as the FAW is not able to determine a domestic cup winner on sporting merit, the highest ranked non-qualified club from the JD Cymru Premier will qualify for the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League at the stage initially reserved for the lowest ranking top domestic league representative. This representative has been determined as Barry Town United. Consequently, each representative of the JD Cymru Premier then enters the UEL at the stage initially reserved for the domestic league representative ranked immediately above.

Recreational Football

The Community Game Board has previously decided that once a solution had been confirmed for Tiers 1-4 on how to conclude the 2019/20 season that Recreational Football in the country would follow suit.
As a result, all adult Recreational Football has been curtailed with league standings finalised via the points per game method.

Sunday 22 March 2020

Our 3 Number Lotto was drawn tonight, the numbers were 12-21-13 with one winner of £5 for 2 correct numbers.

We are suspending our Lotto until such time as all Pubs are open again, take care everyone and see you soon.

Friday 13 March 2020

The Football Association of Wales has taken the decision to extend the current suspension of all domestic football in Wales until at least Friday, 15 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Above all, the most important priority for the FAW is the health and wellbeing of everyone. The FAW encourages everyone to follow the advice of the UK & Welsh Governments and Public Health Wales. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the pandemic.

There is no doubt about this players ability been quality for years with Holyhead Town leading them to many trophies and we are delighted to be able to get this one done aswell as some of the other players we have brought in he will add some real quality to the midfield and help the team massively.
A tough tackling midfielder with real quality.

Again thank you to Holyhead Town for the smooth transfer.

Jordan Lees
Jordie Lees transfers over from Holyhead Town, a quality player who we had playing with us last season before he moved to Holyhead Town, quality through the middle or our wide, calm on the ball, quality passer and dribbler and first time round with us scored a few with his head.

Quality defender who can also play in midfield. Calm on the ball, fine passer. A calming player who can slow the game down if needed or pick out a killer pass to win a game.

3. Liam Williams:
Classy playmaker, deadly from set pieces with the ability to score some quality goals from long range. Can also play centre-back.

4. Sion Thomas:
Can play in many positions. Gives his all and battles till the end, playing either in the back or midfield.

Two mistakes in the first half seen us go behind after some great chances could of been up by 3 second half seen us start fast and nathan lewis going on a good run after a good ball from jordan rowlands and placing it past the keeper we kept pushing forward but with us pushing they capitalised and caught us on the break.

Unlucky lads
Onto next week

Motm
Dewi Thomas (sponsor Shaun Watchorn)

A tough game today against a good llangoed team, seen us up against the wind in the first half with them getting a few early chances but we defended well and Kieran Weeks making a superb save, it was a close half until the 40th minute when Dewi Thomas after some good play got the ball and put it in the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

Second half seen us start very well getting chances but not converting and a lack on concentration seen llangoed get the equaliser with a quick free kick catching us off guard, leaving them 1 on 1 with the keeper and placing in bottom corner.

Fair play then llangoed had a lot of the ball and were pushing but we got our chance and some good play from Ian seen him get past two and place in bottom corner.

But this was to be short lived when a corner got cleared and landed to one of there players who hit it and with the wind it went past Weeks.

Ended 2-2 but both teams would have felt they could win the game to be honest, all the best for the rest of the season and thanks for the hospitality afterwards.

Saturday 3 August 2019

Caergybi 0 Prestatyn Sports 6 (friendly)

A tough start to the day with us having so many missing and getting a team together, but credit where it’s due all the team did well and have staked a place for the team next week.

Another tough test ended in defeat but could of been so different, first half thought we were the better team missing several chances and hitting bar twice then to concede in last minute from a free kick, which was headed in was gutting but we were upbeat and thought we played well.

Second half was a different story, conceding early put the heads down and like a team two leagues higher would do, they capitalised on it fair play.

Game was played in great spirit and thank you to all the Prestatyn lads for coming back to the pub afterwards, had a great laugh they might of won the football but Percy won the pool 😉.

All the best for the season lads.

Tuesday 30 July 2019

Llanrug 8 Caergybi 0 (friendly)

Another very hard test for the lads ended in defeat but was a great run out for fitness and lots to take from it.

To arrange to play a team two leagues higher than us in a day hats off to the lads.

We had our chances throughout but failed to make them pay and some errors led to many of the goals but good to get them out now so we can work on them and get ready for the season, shame to lose two players to injuries very early on we hope they aren’t to serious and they will be ok for the start of the season.

Taking nothing away from Llanrug what a fantastic team knocked the ball round so well and made us work hard.

We wish them all the best for the season and I’m sure they will do well.

James Ryan x 2

A great start for us seen us go in front through Ant Parry with a strike from outside the box, a second came soon after some great play from the midfield again he slotted home.

A third came not long after with a fine goal from Luke Mckittrick taking it on his chest and volleying into the far corner.
A fourth came when Nik picked up the ball and went on a great run and found the bottom corner with a great strike.
Then 10 minutes before the end we switched off and allowed Valley to get 2 goals back one a great strike from Bailey

Second half seen us start quick again and Marcus Bell headed home from the corner.
Then sloppy play for a while and lack of movement seen the game go a bit stale until James Ryan played a great ball to play in Gary Seagul who took his goal fantastically with a lob from outside of the box before James Ryan got him self a couple to finish the scoring for us one from outside the box with a good strike and another a header in off the post, Valley got one back in the last second with a penalty.

Another good run out for the lads thanks to Valley for coming over and giving us the game.

All the best for the season lads hope you do well.

Tuesday 23 July 2019

Caergybi 0 Holyhead Town 2 (friendly)

Great game for the lads, a nervy first 10 mins saw Town capitalise on two bad passes and as a higher league team would do they punished us 2-0 down, but credit to the lads they could of crumbled and gone to pot, but we dusted ourselves down and held on, came into the game and created chances with good spells of possession, a great game for the neutral and great to see two Holyhead sides playing the game in a good manner.

Good luck to Holyhead Town for the season, hope you do well from all at Caergybi.

With Llandudno Junction pulling out last minute due to not having enough players, we asked a number of teams to play and fair play to Holyhead Town Reserves for stepping up and getting a team in an hour to play, we can’t thank them enough great bunch of lads.

Good game for the lads having most of the possession, we played well from the back controlling the game, just lacking to create chances at times but it came in the second half with a lot of changes and tired legs from Town.

Again we can’t thank them enough and we wish them all the best of luck in Anglesey League next season

Now onto their first team on Tuesday

Great to get more minutes in for the lads against a good Valley side, lots of new faces in the team today and doing well, think the lads played really well all gelling well and linking up was great to see.

Most important thing is the fitness for the lads and minutes under the belts.

Well done both sides.

No training Thursday for us with us picking up a few knocks tonight we will rest up ready for Saturday.

Good luck to Valley for the rest of the season and thanks for having us.

Halkyn & Flint Mountain 2 Caergybi 1 (friendly)

Goalscorer:
James Ryan x1

Another tough test for the lads against a very good team, started well going 1-0 up from James Ryan from the penalty spot after a great run from Mason Hughes. A controversial goal from them just before half time saw us go in 1-1 HT.

A close second half with them having more people available and mixing it up proved the difference, fielding a lot of new players in second half saw them grab a second.

Fair play to them, a quality passing team and they had a lot of chances, great fitness again for the lads getting more minutes in the bag, we wish them all the best for the season and we will deffo arrange again for next season.

Up next Valley on Tuesday.

Good to get back out there, get some fitness in and get minutes under the belts and great to see many new faces in and doing well in the game, lots of positives.

Unfortunately the game was stopped after 70 minutes due to one of the RAF Valley players breaking his ankle.

All of us wish him a speedy recovery.

Thanks to Carl Hagan for refereeing.

First preseason game today against a fantastic Bodedern team, took a lot from it lots to work on but was great to test ourselves, going against such a good team for first game was always going to be hard, but fair play they outplayed us all over.

Well done to them and thanks to Ricky Williams for having us and for the food after the game, all the best for the season lads with that team I’m sure you will be fine.
